Technical Data
2009 The Kirche Shiraz
Style
Deep colour. Bright sweet nose with a lovely vanillin sweet shiraz bouquet that seems to be indicative of the Krondorf sub region. Dusty oak overtones add a touch of complexity. Full palate with a touch of savoury bacon like toasted oak character, mingling with the natural fruit flavours.
Vinification
Selected blocks from the Krondorf sub region are picked at 14-14.8% Be and then de-stemmed but not crushed into small batch fermenters. A 7-8 day ferment takes place prior to pressing and then barrique ageing in all French oak of which one third was new. The wines are aged on lees for their full maturation time.
