CELLAR DIARY

2008 Red wines are in Barrrel

As the heading reads... all of our 2008 babies have been put to bed for 18 months. So this can only mean one thing...the 2006 are mature and ready to be checked and graded, which Charlie is doing right at this moment.

 Rose Of Virginia Turns 21

We are so excited to announce the release of the 2008 Rose of Virginia, it's our 21st vintage so time to celebrate!! So buy a case, and raise a glass to Virginia.

Staff Tastings

How does it work???

Each staff member has the oppotunity to choose a theme for a blind tasting. This is to further educate our palates and knowledge of other varieties.

This week was Brooke's turn and she choose Tasmainia Vs New Zealand Pinot Noir which was very interesting as we don't drink these wines enough, being from Shiraz region.

Our Picks

2007 Stefano Lubiana  value for money

2007 Dalrymple  great Tassie example

2004 Villa Maria  great New Zealand example

Soup Fridays

Every Friday, the crew at Charles Melton Wines get together in the Cellar Door for lunch. Informally known as ‘Soup Friday’, it gives us the opportunity to catch up or churn over local gossip with mates.

The deal is that we each take turns to make the soup – James in the Cellar for his famous Laksa, Nicki for her Tom ka gai – complete with Charlie’s Morton Bay Bugs (who takes credit for that amazing creation guys???), or Pete taking time from the vineyard for homemade pumpkin soup: “I chopped the vegies and stirred. Heather, (his wife) did the rest!”

We love the warmer months when Gordon Ramsay (a.k.a Charlie!) dons the apron and mans the barbie, dishing out the perfect snag!

So, if you're ever in the Barossa around 12.30 on a Friday, give us a buzz and pop in to share in all the gossip!
